The Victoria Athletic Association is a senior sports club that operates year round supporting teams throughout the Greater Victoria Area. The A’s are sponsors of: 9 winter soccer teams; 5 summer fastball teams; as well as many other sporting organizations in our area. *** Community Gaming Petition *** IMPORTANT
As you know the Victoria Athletics Association is supported by the Greater Victoria Bingo Association (see the heading above). The GVBA donates much needed funds enabling us to support our teams and offer such low membership dues. Without their support we would probably cease to exist as their contributions are significant.
They are hoping to evolve Victoria Bingo into a Community Gaming Centre which will assist the bingo industry in maintaining revenues to Community Charities (e.g. Us!!). Municipal approval is required from the City of Victoria and the best way to get that is show that the majority of public opinion is in favor of a Community Gaming Center. If this approval is given it will ensure their continued support to smaller charities such as the V.A.A. and may even enable larger donations.
As you can see this is very important to our association’s survival. Please take 2 minutes out of your day to go to the following link and sign the petition. All they need is your name and address and you can choose to be anonymous so no one sees your info.

Winter Teams Awards Day/Indoor Soccer Tourney Saturday April 18th @ the Oak Bay Rec Centre
Well, it’s been and gone. Our mixed indoor tourney was held on the turf field, followed by the Winter Teams' Awards upstairs.
Everyone had a great time, as seen in the photographic evidence in the Photo Gallery !!

In Memoriam Jody Joval: 1968 - 2009
The Athletic’s would like to pass along our condolences to the family of Jody Joval. Jody was an avid fastball player with our Mixed Fastball team that plays at Heywood Park. Rest in Peace.
As a mark of respect many of our ball clubs will be displaying her initials on their uniforms this season. |

Premier Women Saltspring Tournament
The Premier A's (with help from some Castaways and former A's members) played in the May Long Saltspring Island Tourney and made it to the semi-finals. We lost in a shoot-out but had a blast and enjoyed the awesome weather + beer gardens. Thanks to everyone who went!! |
